On Wednesday, an anonymous source confirmed to Asus Tablet the final specifications of the Asus Eee PC T101H netbook tablet. It is the sister tablet to the ASUS Eee PC T91 (whose models have been confirmed on Tuesday) and the biggest difference between the two is the size. The T101H will appeal to more advanced users as it sports a 10.1″ screen as opposed to the T91’s 9″ screen. It is not clear if the T101H will have the same amount of variations as the T91 but we can only hope, or should we? The specifications right now show the T101H to have the same specs as the most upscale models of the T91, the ASUS Eee pC T91, the ASUS Eee pC T91go and the ASUS Eee pC T91A (the unknown but possible T91Ago) It holds a full GPS chip, 3G abilities and a multi-touch interface. To make you even more exited, here’s a hands-on video with the T101H: According to ASUS UK, the T101H is expected in the end of August 2009, or early September 2009.
Is this the netbook tablet we’ve actually all been waiting for? Should we consider the T91 as just a sample version of the real thing? Tell us which tablet netbook you would now choose, in the comments. Update: ASUS UK confirmed to us the anonymous source is not correct about this information, as the specifications are not even known by them. 78 Comments to 'ASUS Eee PC T101H specifications announced, “final” says anonymous source'This is the one I’ve been waiting for since I first heard about the T91. The Eee PC [...] The T91 is cute but if it’s XP Home then you miss out speech recognition (unless you buy Office or a third party speech product) and maybe writing recognition (someone said a third party writing product is there?) Vista, you have to buy I guess and you’re unsupported. Windows 7, which edition, do they all have tablet features and speech? Someone said Starter Edition? 3G built in: YES. Then I want either an actual phone there or Skype. TV: well, reception here is poor. Say, did you say GPS or GPRS? Different critters entirely. I want more RAM, and you’d better back up that SSD storage regularly. (Second drive is an SD card? Really?) This is not meant to be your main PC, unless you’re poor. In Star Trek the data “padds” did not accept voice commands. Maybe that was because there’d been that incident? Next Gen episode with the mutated tricorder? Anyway we may be actually overtaking the Enterprise now. [...] Via AsusTablet [...] I would choose the 101H because of the size. I would even go a little larger, like a piece of paper, 8.5×11 or even legal size! Have they decided when to release? I will be in the US in Sept/Oct! I WANT T101 NOW!! A tablet is useless without wacom penabled technology…otherwise these sound really great for me, would go with the larger screen I think.

The Eee PC T91 and T101H tablet PCs are the first major departure from the traditional range of Asus Eee PC netbooks. The first rumours of such a device surfaced in October last year, three months before the company officially unveiled it during its CES keynote. They have a touch-sensitive display attached to the rest of the machine via a 180-degree hinge. The screen rotates and enables it to transform itself from a traditional netbook into the smallest tablet PC to date. |
